Obituary

Wanda Mary Price, age 88, of Fremont, Michigan, passed away peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, June 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on June 13, 1936, in Michigan. Wanda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was known for her unwavering kindness, her generous spirit, and the gentle wisdom she shared with all who knew her. Wanda believed in the importance of family, faith, and community, and she lived her life accordingly.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Orville Price; her cherished daughter, Deborah "Deb" Emerick; and her beloved son, Terris Ames Sr. and her sister Marilyn. Her love for each of them was deep and enduring, and her family takes comfort in knowing they are reunited in peace.

Wanda is survived by her loving son, Daniel Price, and his wife, Kathleen "Kathy" Price; her daughter-in-law, Andrea Price, wife of the late Terris Ames Sr.; and her son-in-law, Matthew Emerick, husband of the late Deborah Emerick, and her sister Cynthia Thomas.  She also leaves behind many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Wanda found joy in the simple pleasures of life— camping with family, playing music, participating in community events, and spending quiet afternoons with family. Wanda's passion for culinary arts extended beyond her personal interests; she was instrumental in the development of the Culinary Arts program at the Newaygo County Career-Tech Center. Her vision led to the establishment of the Steppingstone Restaurant, a student-operated teaching restaurant that provides hands-on experience in food preparation and service. Through this initiative, Wanda empowered countless students with the skills and confidence to pursue careers in the culinary industry, leaving a lasting impact on the community she cherished.

Our mother instilled in each of us the love and appreciation of many styles of music. One day we may be listening to John Coltrane, Glen Miller and the Andrew Sisters the next day may be John Philip Sousa's famous marches, followed by James Taylor and Gordon Lightfoot. On Sundays it would be the Gaither's, Ed Ames or Tennessee Ernie Ford. This is just a small example of the eclectic and diverse music she would play for us via records and radio.

In 1969 my parents took us on an "Epic Odyssey". We traveled the country in a 1961 flat nose Ford Econoline van, pulling a "pop up" trailer. We stopped each night at a different "KOA" camp ground where mother would cook. The four week journey was something that made an indelible mark on each of us.

In 1971 mother and father, along with grandad and of course us kids, spent a couple of years building the family A-frame house. This home was the "Epicenter" for our family gatherings for many years, and remains in the family still today

Her legacy is one of compassion, faith, and resilience, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

We, as a family, would like to personally extend a heart felt thank you to each and every member of both The Regency at Fremont and Harbor Hospice. We cannot say enough about how kind, loving and professional they all were. "Thank you"
