Ward Simpson, age 94, of Fremont passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, in Fremont. He was born on December 24, 1917, in Fremont to James A. and Addie (Giddings) Simpson. He graduated from Fremont high School in 1935 and married Betty Smith on October 17, 1943. He was an active member of the Fremont Christian Church where he served as Deacon and sang for many years in the church choir. For 40 years he worked as a draftsman at Gerber Products and retired from there in January 1, 1980. After retirement, he and wife Betty spent their winter months in the South. Ward is survived by his wife, Betty (Smith) Simpson; his 2 children, Judy (Doug) Hostetler of Muskegon, Michigan, and Larry Simpson of Maine; grandchildren, Daniel and John Hostetler, Liam and Fiona Simpson. He was preceded in death by brother, Jack Simpson and sisters, Hazel Emery, Margaret Teegardin, and Ima Simpson. Memorial services will be held at 2 PM, on Saturday, January 21, 2012, at the Fremont Christian Church with Rev. David Dickinson officiating. There will be visitation at the church one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be given to the Fremont Christian Church.
