Warren DeWeerd, Jr. age 66 of Grant, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2012 at the Spectrum Health Blodgett Campus in Grand Rapids following a stroke he had in August 2011. Warren was born on September 9, 1945 in Grand Rapids to Warren and Emma (Wilholt) DeWeerd Sr. and later married Theresa Walters on September 15, 2007 in Newaygo. Theresa preceded him in death on April 12, 2011. Warren had been a self-employed entrepreneur for many years and had also been involved with the chaplaincy services of the Michigan Conservation Club for several years. Warren had enjoyed fishing, muzzle loading, hunting, and the Michigan outdoors. Warren also enjoyed cooking and collecting antique fishing equipment. Warren is survived by his son, Nick (Becky) DeWeerd of Grant; his grandson, Nick DeWeerd Jr.; his mother, Emma DeWeerd of Coopersville. VISITATION : Tuesday, February 21, 2012 from 12-2pm at Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICES : Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 2pm at the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel with Pastor Roger Coalter of the Fremont Assembly of God Church presiding.
