Obituary

Wayne S. Diver, age 81 of White Cloud, formerly of New Troy, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2004 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Muskegon following a short illness following surgery. Wayne was born on December 7, 1923 in Stevens Point, Wisconsin to Wallace and Ruth (Godin) Diver and later married Betty J. Fischer on June 8, 1946 in Wausau, Wisconsin. He had been a farmer for several years along with other various jobs and later started working at the Auto Specialties Company in St. Joseph where he had been an iron pourer until his retirement in 1969. He later moved to the White Cloud area in 1972 from New Troy and enjoyed fishing, cutting wood, tinkering around his home on Alley Lake. He joined the United States Marine Corps on December 7, 1941 and served in the Corps during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion in New Troy, Michigan and the White Cloud Eagles, Aerie Post #4170. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty J. of White Cloud; his daughter, Sandra (Richard) Bischoff of Madison, Alabama; his son, Wayne R. (Yvonne) Diver of Camarillo, California; his grandchildren, Sgt. Brian (Wynne) Bischoff, USAF; Anthony (Kimberly) Bischoff; Shannon Diver; Kelly Diver; 4 great grandchildren, Alexander Bischoff; Zachary Bischoff; Brandon Bischoff; Alyssa Bischoff; his sister-in-law, Ila Diver of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Wallace James Diver in 1995; by his brother, Don Diver and sister, Effie Crotteau. Funeral services were held on Friday, December 10, 2004 from the Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel with Rev. Julie Jenuwine-Otto presiding with interment in the New Troy Cemetery in New Troy, Michigan. Military Services were conducted under the auspices of the Croton American Legion, Walter F. Howard Post #381. Friends may consider Hospice of Michigan-Newaygo County for memorial contributions in memory of Wayne.
