Wayne C. Harvatich, age 85, of White Cloud, MI, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 28, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Wayne was born on May 31, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois. Wayne lived a full and vibrant life characterized by love, loyalty, and a steadfast commitment to his family and community.

Wayne spent his formative years in Michigan, where he developed a passion for the outdoors and a talent for working with his hands. A proud Marine Corps veteran, he served his country with honor from June 19, 1961, to June 11, 1966. Wayne often reflected fondly on his time in the Marines, instilled with deep values of perseverance and camaraderie that stayed with him throughout his life. After dedicating several years to the Marine Corps, Wayne belonged to the Operating Engineers Local 324 for about 40 years and operated various heavy equipment.

Wayne was deeply devoted to his beloved wife of 63 years, Mary Lou Harvatich, alongside whom he built a beautiful life and family. He leaves behind cherished memories with his children, Michael Harvatich and Teresa Harvatich, as well as his grandchildren, Joseph Harvatich, Wayne Harvatich, and Desirae Simmons, and his great-grandchildren, Sheyanne Simmons, Cutter Simmons, and Rhett Harvatich. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph C. Harvatich and Mary J. Harvatich; his sister, Marianne Reitz; and dear friends, Bill Bishop and Donny Painter.

Wayne was known for his generous spirit and endless work ethic. He was a perfectionist with a knack for storytelling, often entertaining family and friends with humorous tales. His talents extended to tinkering with engines and carpentry, and he took great joy in mushroom hunting. Wayne was happiest when he was busy with a new project, always driven by the need to do it right and right away. He had a special knack for helping others and was unconditionally giving of his time and talents.

On September 8th at Crandell Funeral Home Inc, White Cloud, MI, friends and family are invited to pay their respects from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 pm. A second visitation will be held on September 9th at 10:00am at St. Joseph Catholic Church Hall in White Cloud, MI. Wayne's funeral service will be held at St Joseph Catholic Church in White Cloud, MI, on September 9th at 11:00 am. A graveside service, including a military rite in recognition of his dedicated service, will follow at St Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery at 12:15 pm. A luncheon will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church Hall following the graveside service. Contributions in Wayne’s memory may be made to West Michigan Hospice, whose incredible work in caring for him and countless others is deeply appreciated by his family.
