Wayne Fred Matthews, age 79, of Hesperia, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family. Wayne was born on February 27, 1933 in Muskegon to Harvey and Rachel (Knight) Matthews and married Margaret Miesen on March 9, 1952, in Fremont. Wayne worked for Deurs Venture Inc. in White Cloud as a brine truck driver and maintenance specialist at the Shack. Wayne served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict, enjoyed farming and spending time with his family. Wayne is survived by his children, Steven (Krithana) Matthews of Fremont, Debra (Dean) Wheater of Fremont, Joy (Mark) Addison of Twin Lake, Kim (Jeff) Benson of Fremont, and Charles (Faith) Matthews of Chicago; his 3 grandchildren, Keri Andrews, Tom Addison, and Elizabeth Benson; 2 great-grandchildren, David Addison and Ally Andrews; brother and sisters, Ella Mae Matthews of Fremont, Linda Hile of Fremont, Leslie (Lois) Matthews of Fremont, and Cathy (Bob) Moore of Twin Lake; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret in August of this year; son, Rick Matthews in 1978; and brothers in law, Richard Matthews and Leslie Hile. Memorial services for Wayne will be held at 2 PM, on Monday, December 31, 2012, at the Crandell Funeral Home in Fremont with Pastor Doug Bennett officiating. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service. All are invited to the Shack following the service for fellowship and luncheon. Interment will be in East Hesperia Cemetery.
