Wilhelmina Gillette, age 92 of Newaygo, passed away Friday, May 15, 2009 at her home following a short illness. Wilhelmina was born on October 3, 1916 in Oak Park, Illinois to Johanes Marinus and Marie (VanTottenhoven) Ridderikhoff and moved to the Newaygo area in 1937. Wilhelmina met and later married Rex William Gillette on July 28, 1941 in Fremont and Rex preceded her in death on May 12, 1990. Wilhelmina had been a production worker for many years and had worked at the Roby Corporation in Newaygo during World War II making the canvas covers for entrenching tools for the military. She later retired from White Cloud Products in 1982. Wilhelmina enjoyed being outdoors, working in her yard and had enjoyed archery in her younger years. Wilhelmina treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Wilhelmina is survived by her children. Rex William Gillette of Newaygo; John Ridder Gillette of Newaygo; Christine (Wayne) Fetterley of Newaygo; her grandchildren, Tracy Gillette; Craig Gillette; Dustan Gillette; Sarah Gillette; John R. Gillette Jr.; Mario D. Gillette; Bailey Fetterley and Kacie Fetterley; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; her sister, Jerry Holdmann of Newaygo; her sister-in-law, Arlene Ridderikhoff of Newaygo. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Dana Marie Fetterley; her sisters, Sue Ridderikhoff; Corry Koclanis; Louise Schneidereit; and her John Ridderikhoff. Private family graveside services were held at the Newaygo Cemetery. Friends may consider the Dana Marie Fetterley Memorial Fund at the Fremont Area Community Foundation for memorial contributions in memory of Wilhelmina.
