Flag for Veteran Willard G. Cunningham, age 81, of Hesperia passed away on Monday, January 10, 2011, at Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial. Willard was born on February 21, 1929, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Willard and Edna Fay (Walker) Cunningham. He married Juanita Newcomb in Missouri, sharing 14 years, and then married Vivian Syers in Hesperia on February 20, 1964. Willard was a Navy Veteran of WWII and member of the Hesperia American Legion and had served as Post Commander. Willard is survived by his children, Kenneth Randy (Beth) Follett of Fremont, Roger (Dee) Follett of Hesperia, Peg (Tom) Jensen of Blair, Nebraska, Bill (April) Cunningham of Hesperia, Julie Ann (Al) Purdy of Hesperia, and John (Linda) Cunningham of Hesperia; 32 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wives Juanita and Vivian; son, Richard Lee Follett; and brothers, Bernard, Wayne, and Edward. A reception to honor Willards Life will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2011, from 11 AM to 1 PM, at the Hesperia American Legion. Interment will be in West Hesperia Cemetery.
