Carr, William J. William J. Carr, age 83 of Twin Lake, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at his home. Bill was born on December 1, 1923 in Muskegon to Charles and Goldie (Whiteside) Carr and later married Vera M. Hiltunen on January 5, 1947, in Lanse, Michigan. He has been a lifelong resident of the Twin Lake area where he had been a machinist at Norge and later at Teledyne Continental Motors Company for 23 years until his retirement in 1985. He was a veteran of World War II where he served in the United States Navy and was a member of the Fremont VFW Laurels Post #6898. He also enjoyed working on cars in his garage; traveling, building and woodworking. The Carr family also wishes to thank Harbor Hospice for the care given to Bill during his illness. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Vera; his children, Bonnie (Jim) Slater of Holton; Rita (Jim) Booher of Hesperia; Leah (Tom) Bell of Fruitport; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Constance Henningon Dec. 24, 2005; his brothers, Ken Carr and Charles Carr; his sisters, Maritta Proctor; Geraldine Wolcott; and Arlene Fletcher. Military graveside services were held on Saturday, December 23, 2006 at the Oakwood Cemetery in Holton with Rev. Father Mike Alber of the St. Michael's Catholic Church presiding and the Holton American Legion, Cobb, Trygstad, Anderson Post #397 providing military rites.
