Obituary

Hanson, William Earl William Earl Hanson, age 80 of Fremont, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2007 at the DaySpring Assisted Living Center in Muskegon. Earl was born on February 21, 1926 in Grand Rapids to Rudolph and Teresa (Carter) Hanson and moved to the Fremont area at the age of 12. He later met and married Caroline Carolyn Wojtas on April 15, 1950 in Grand Rapids. Earl had been a industrial photographer at Teledyne Continental Motors Company in Muskegon until his retirement in 1985. He had been a member of the All Saints Catholic Church for 56 years where he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and was a member of the PEDRO Club. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, playing cards and served as an election official in Garfield Township for many years. Earl is survived by his wife of 56 years, Caroline Carolyn his children, Larry (Betsy) Hanson of Fremont; Roger (Cindy) Hanson of Houston, Texas; Bruce (Joann) Hanson of Lemont, Illinois; Beth Hanson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; daughter-in-law, Nancy Hanson of Fremont; his grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Jesse, Jennifer, Wil, Luke, Kara, Jarrod, Leah, Danielle; his brother, Donald (Linda) Hanson of Fremont; his sisters, Roberta (Dave) Shuttler of Traverse City; Marilyn (Melvin) Gilmore of Florida; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, David Hanson on January 22, 2002 and by his brother, Robert Hanson. Funeral mass services were held on Monday, January 29, 2007 from the All Saints Catholic Church in Fremont with Rev. Father Tony Russo presiding with interment in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Scripture services were held on Sunday, January 28, 2007 with Sister Jean Wojtas presiding. Friends may consider the Retirement Fund for Servants of Jesus (Sister Jeans Order) or Friendship Without Borders (Beth Hansons ministry) for memorial contributions in memory of Earl.
