William E. Hays, age 93 of Holton, passed away Monday, November 22, 2021 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont. Bill was born on December 30, 1927 in Muskegon to Joseph and Frances (Kraley) Hays and later married Ella Mildred White on September 27, 1947 in Hesperia. Ella preceded him in death on April 13, 2018. Bill enlisted in the United States Navy at an early age and served during World War II until his honorable discharge. Bill had worked for Consumers Energy as a mechanic and meter reader for many years until his retirement in 1984. Bill had been the President of the Port City Beagle Club for over 50 years and enjoyed raising, training and field running his beagles field trails around the State of Michigan for many years. Bill enjoyed fishing, watching the birds, summer vacations with family and spending time with his grandchildren in their younger years. Bill is survived by his daughters, Kathy (Allan) Bruins of Hudsonville, Michigan; Suzanne Hays of Holton; Sandra Beattie of Fremont; Paula (Jack) Dunbar of Fremont; Patricia (Mert) Tinkham of Fremont; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Ella and 1 brother. Private services were held following Bill's wishes for cremation.
