Willie B. Kitty Hawkins, age 89 of Fremont, formerly of Florida, passed away Friday, July 6, 2012 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont. Kitty was born on September 21, 1922 in Canton, Georgia to Willie K. and Dora Bruce (Garner) Huitt and later married Leonard H. Hawkins on June 12, 1942 in Chatworth, Georgia. Leonard preceded her in death. Kitty has been a resident of the Fremont area since 2000 when she moved from Florida where she had worked as a clerk in retail sales until her retirement. Kitty is survived by her son, Fred (Elaine) Hawkins of Fort Myers, Florida; her grandchildren, Joanna Hagen of Sarasota, Florida; Michelle Phillips of Sarasota, Florida; Amanda Hawkins of Madison, Wisconsin; Ryan Hawkins of Madison, Wisconsin; her great grand daughter, Jacki Hagen; her brothers and sisters, James Huitt of Rock Springs, Georgia; Clyde (Christine) Huitt of Tunnel Hill, Georgia; Uhlan Huitt of Jacksonville, Florida; Rochelle Huitt of Costa Rica. Kitty was preceded in death by her daughter, Marjorie Phillips on October 18, 2008 and her brothers, Joue and Laverne Huitt. Private memorial services will be held at a later date following cremation. Friends may consider memorial contributions to the Parkinsons Association for memorial contributions in memory of Kitty.
