Bonnie LaVay Heinzman, 81, of Newaygo, MI, passed away on Wednesday, April 24th, 2024. She was born on August 19th, 1942 in Volga, South Dakota to Albert and Marcella Blachford.
Bonnie is survived by her loving children Whitney (Rodney) Smith, Morgan (Sonja) Heinzman, and Shay (Tom) Frisbie. She is also survived by her grandchildren Petra, Chance, Isaac, Reo, Molly, Cooper, and Sophia, as well as her brother Richard (Kathleen) Blachford and sister-in-law Vera Blachford. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Darrell Heinzman, and her brothers Robert (Madonna) and Dennis Blachford.
Bonnie graduated from Miller High School, South Dakota in 1960 and went on to become a dedicated mom. She was a member of the Legion Auxiliary and was known for her involvement in local politics, known as the small town political bulldog, as well as for her love of theater as an amateur thespian, music, dancing, gardening, and traveling with friends.
Bonnie was a vibrant and fun-loving individual who was always the life of the party. She had many hobbies and talents, including playing the drums, crafting leather good, creating art with anything in hand, and owning and operating a number of businesses in her spare time. Bonnie will be dearly missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
A celebration of Bonnie's life will be held at the Croton American Legion Auxiliary on Sunday, June 9, starting at 2pm. Donations in her memory can be made to the Croton American Legion Auxiliary.
