Betty G. Smith, age 68, of Fremont passed away unexpectedly at Mercy Health Partners – Sherman Campus in Muskegon. Betty was born on December 3, 1949, in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, to Earnest William and Mary (Spence) King. Betty met Terry Alvin Smith on a blind date while Terry was serving in the military. They later married on June 16, 1968, in Virginia. Together, Betty and Terry made their home in several places in the United States including, Munising in the upper peninsula of Michigan, Las Vegas, Nevada, the Croton area, and Clermont, Florida. Betty had been a payroll manager for Wolfgang Puck Restaurants and enjoyed cooking, reading, and traveling with her husband Terry. Most of all, Betty was a “people person” and always had a smile and good cheer for those she met.
Betty is survived by her devoted husband Terry; children, Kimberly Gay Demogola-Smith of Hesperia and Kristina Kay (Clinton “Buddy”) Britton of Gwinn, Michigan; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; mother, Mary King; sisters and brother, Lyndia King of Virginia, Luann Roane of Virginia, and James D. William King of Virginia; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Earnest.
