Roger Wambaugh Obituary

Roger D. Wambaugh, age 80 of Hesperia, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2019. Roger was born on July 6, 1939 in Bitely to Ornan John and Hilia Adeline (Jones) Wambaugh and graduated from Fruitport High School. Roger met Irene Michaud and they were married on January 15, 1958 in Canada. Roger had served in the United States Air Force until his honorable discharge. Roger worked as a millwright and machine repair technician for many years and retired from Grand Haven Stamped Products. Roger moved back to the Hesperia area in 2004 and had served on the Hesperia Village Council for a term. He enjoyed woodworking – making yard ornaments, kids toys and pen holders; gardening, growing and making gourd birdhouses and animals. He had enjoyed fishing and hunting in his younger years and was well known for his generous hospitality and kind heartedness.

Roger is survived by his wife of 61 years, Irene of Hesperia; his children, Dianne (Lee) Peterson of Muskegon; Johanna (Jerry) Shaffer of Manistee; Theresa Wambaugh of Manistee; Willis (Aimee) Wambaugh of Spring Lake; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; his sister, Babe Wambaugh of Three Rivers; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Roger was preceded in death by his sisters and brother, Linda Bentley; Calvin Wambaugh; and Sandra Wambaugh.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICES with MILITARY HONORS : will be held with the date and time to be announced soon at the Hesperia American Legion 4075 S 198th Ave Hesperia MI 49421. INTERMENT : Lilley Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : to the Wambaugh family to assist with expenses or to the Kidney Foundation.
